About Me

My photo

Hi: It's Merniebug here. Well actually it's Melanie but I answer to a variety of sobriquets. My mother had been reading Gone With The Wind at the time of my birth, thus, I was named Melanie. My friends call me Mel, It was my sister who coined the moniker Mernie when she was too young to pronounce Melanie correctly. It was eventually shortened to Mern. And then later when my nephew came along he called me Melwee because he couldn't pronounce Melanie either. Now my husband of thirty-four years is so confused he just calls me whatever comes to mind first. Actually I was Sweetheart until the day he realized the honeymoon was over. It was my cousin who added the bug to Mernie which is who I've always been to him and who I am on Splitcoast Stampers. So now that we've gotten past the odd name business, who else am I? I'm a child of the King, a wife and a mother to one grown son and five tailwaggin' fur babies. I am a retired interior designer, a rubber stamper, and a wanna be author who is just completing a first novel. I got into scrapping and rubber stamping to fill a creative void after retiring--it's less expensive than redecorating the house every year. LOL

A TRIO OF CUTIES

Good morning everyone.  I hope you had a terrific weekend, I know I did, and I even have a trio of cuties to show for it. These I call my Sarah Kay girls.  Sarah Kay on a Bicycle, Sarah Kay’s First Kiss, and Sarah Kay with baby chicks.  I learned a few good lessons this weekend as well.  I had no sooner finished Sarah Kay with Baby Chicks, and photographed it, when I picked up a bottle of glimmer mist for another card, shook it to mix the mica, only to learn to my dismay that the lid wasn’t on tight. It flew everywhere creating a huge mess, destroying the card I had just completed.  Well it’s a goner, but thank goodness I did get it photographed first.  So I did learn to check those lids, to photograph my work right away, and perhaps to even put things away?
These images were all colored with Prisma Pencil and finished with baby oil.

The accessories I used on this card are, buttons, ribbon, Cuttlebug embossing folder, Prima flowers, and a small daisey punch.

The accessories on this card are ribbon, buttons, small daisey punch, tag punch.  The sky was created by masking the image and sponging it on using a homemade template.

Accessories used on this card are, Cuttlebug embossing folder, buttons, tab punches,  ribbon scraps,
Stampin Up small circle punch.  When it comes to card stock I always use Bazzill and the reason I seldom give the name of designer paper is because it is often a left over scrap or was purchased on sale
and is discontinued.  That's it for today. Thanks for stopping by.  I'd appreciate  you leaving a note to say hi and to let me know you've been here.
