About Me

- Hi: It's Merniebug here. Well actually it's Melanie but I answer to a variety of sobriquets. My mother had been reading Gone With The Wind at the time of my birth, thus, I was named Melanie. My friends call me Mel, It was my sister who coined the moniker Mernie when she was too young to pronounce Melanie correctly. It was eventually shortened to Mern. And then later when my nephew came along he called me Melwee because he couldn't pronounce Melanie either. Now my husband of thirty-four years is so confused he just calls me whatever comes to mind first. Actually I was Sweetheart until the day he realized the honeymoon was over. It was my cousin who added the bug to Mernie which is who I've always been to him and who I am on Splitcoast Stampers. So now that we've gotten past the odd name business, who else am I? I'm a child of the King, a wife and a mother to one grown son and five tailwaggin' fur babies. I am a retired interior designer, a rubber stamper, and a wanna be author who is just completing a first novel. I got into scrapping and rubber stamping to fill a creative void after retiring--it's less expensive than redecorating the house every year. LOL

THE PRINCESS MOUSE, OR IS IT THE MOUSE PRINCESS?
This was the collection I was supposed to have used. So to keep me out of the dog, no make that the cat house, would you please leave some love for these sweet little designs. Better still, why not go shopping in the Meljen's store. You're just likely to find a freebie or two there as well.
The fun little image I did use, by Meljen's Design's for Whimsey stamps, is a princess and a mouse. I keep getting her title confused just like I got this card confused. It is for this weeks Meljen's Design Team challenge to Bling it up. I got the bling part right but then I picked an image from the wrong collection. The collection I was supposed to have used was one of cats and mice. Now you tell me, am I that far off base? It is BLINGY, and she is a MOUSE, right? Thank you to all the gang at Meljen's for not chewing my behind for this colossal mistake.
CARD RECIPE:
Image by Meljen's Designs: This Mouse Princess was printed three times, colored with Copics, cut out and layered between pieces of foam tape.
The border was punched with a Martha Stewart Punch.
The labels Die behind image is by Spellbinders.
The embossed layer was run through the Cuttlebug in an embossing folder.
The flourish thingy is a punch by EK Success
Leaf and pine foliage punches by Martha Stewart
The flower was hand made from the Cricut Machine
The Bling is lots of Gold Memory Mist, Pearls, and Glitter
The background designer paper is by Basic Grey from the Indian Summer Collection, but it has been so heavily sprayed with gold that the design and original color has been distorted.
