About Me

My photo
Mesa, Arizona, United States
Hi: It's Merniebug here. Well actually it's Melanie but I answer to a variety of sobriquets. My mother had been reading Gone With The Wind at the time of my birth, thus, I was named Melanie. My friends call me Mel, It was my sister who coined the moniker Mernie when she was too young to pronounce Melanie correctly. It was eventually shortened to Mern. And then later when my nephew came along he called me Melwee because he couldn't pronounce Melanie either. Now my husband of thirty-four years is so confused he just calls me whatever comes to mind first. Actually I was Sweetheart until the day he realized the honeymoon was over. It was my cousin who added the bug to Mernie which is who I've always been to him and who I am on Splitcoast Stampers. So now that we've gotten past the odd name business, who else am I? I'm a child of the King, a wife and a mother to one grown son and five tailwaggin' fur babies. I am a retired interior designer, a rubber stamper, and a wanna be author who is just completing a first novel. I got into scrapping and rubber stamping to fill a creative void after retiring--it's less expensive than redecorating the house every year. LOL

Meljen'sBlog Challenge: #13 A Card with a TAG

My tag really is a tag, it just happens to be  oval shaped and mounted on a card.  I loved working with this image.  The Image was printed multiple times, colored with Copics, cut out, and layered with foam tape.   The suds were created with Puff Paint and the bubbles are Cloud 9 rain dots.

HANNA & FRIENDS: Favorite Color
JOAN"S GARDEN: Use a floral paper.-mine is paisley with flowers
S2G TWISTED THURSDAY: Use something new.  I used my new Martha Stewart border punch, and what a beauty it is.
THE ABC CHALLENGE: X  For extra dimension.
I wish the dimension and layers showed up better on this card.
DANCING IN PAJAMAS: We are to use the picture shown as a starting point.  The colors were mostly greens, & turquoise.  So I threw in purple too and voila'
JUST ADD INK:  Just add patterened paper.
PRAIRY FAIRIE FRIDAY: Summer Vacation.  This may not remind some of you of a summer vacation but I'll bet a lot of you can relate.  After a day on the beach we had to wash off in the tub outside before being allowed inside to SHOWER.
SMC: Challenge #19 Anything goes.
STAMPIN B"S #64 Summer fun:  I'll bet this isn't what you had in mind for summer fun but when we were kids, after a fun day on the beach we had to scrub the sand off in a tub much like this one before we were allowed in the house to shower.
